BioI am a student (a pretty old one), majoring in Writing and Linguistics with a minor in Journalism. Grammar and spelling errors make me cringe, especially when the errors occur in published documents like newspapers or books. I write for the university newspaper, but the copyeditor has no journalism experience nor is she a Writing or Journalism student, so nearly all the articles are published with errors (yes, she actually ADDS errors). I've taken to reading the newspaper with a red pen. Hell, I can't even read a milk carton without a red pen.
